Frequently Asked Questions:
1. Who am I going up against?
MMA Masters will setup each division based on age, rank and technical ability.
2. What do I have to do?
All you have to do is come up with your own creative breaking routine! (Don't worry, it's much easier than it sounds. Most routines incorporate around 3-4 moves that are meant to display your confidence and technique. Try to pick out 2-4 kicking or creative hand techniques and use a power break to serve as your grand finale!

3. How can I practice?
First start by creating your routine. You can use the example sheet (2nd question link) or talk to your Master for advice. Once you have a routine down you can practice the individual strikes at home with a partner or parent using a kicking target or wooden breaking boards (both can be purchased at your local Dojang). Remember, practicing your Kihap is just as important as the technique!
4. Where do I get my supplies?
MMA Parent’s Committee will have breaking boards, of various thickness, available for sale at the tournament, but you can also purchase your boards earlier on at your local Dojang. Remember, during the competition you will be required to break real boards so it's good to practice on them early (talk to your Master if you are thinking of breaking anything else...and please.. no watermelons).
5. Who is judging?
The Mach MA Championship is judged by parent volunteers and Black Belts who have undergone special seminar training to make judging fair and accurate.
6. What am I judged on?
Confidence is key! Be confident in yourself and creative in your routine and you will be just fine. Here are two obvious but delicate hints: Start with a strong fighting stance with Kihap before each technique, Kihap during the technique and finish the way you started. Just as every Class begins and ends with Respect, every technique Begins and Ends with Confidence. Tip #2 Practice, Practice, Practice. Every board should be broken on your first try so practice consistently to ensure this.
7. Do I have to be a Black Belt?
NO! We encourage students to compete in this event as EARLY AS POSSIBLE. Remember, at least two tournament experiences are required to test for your Black Belt and we have found the faster students participate in events like these, the faster their technical abilities begin to blossom.
